Purpose could definitely vary when it comes to writing and this is because there are many rhetorical elements that can influence the purpose. I’d say that the purpose demonstrates to the audience what the reason was of writing. For instance, there are quite a few different ways a writer shows purpose and one of them is being their purpose to inform the audience. Another example could be that they could possibly try to persuade the audience and to agree with what they’re writing about.

For instance, for our lab report, the whole point of this assignment was to inform and persuade my intended audience that steel would definitely be the best option to withstand a three story-residential building (Figure 1).
