Certainly, once you have determined both the audience and purpose of your writing then all that’s left is to choose the right genre of how exactly you would like to form the assignment. Each genre contains its own specific way of delivery which is why it is important to determine both the audience and purpose.
In this class, we’ve practiced 4 major types of genre (Figure 1 & 2):
- Memo
- Technical Description
- Lab Report
- Engineering Proposal
Lastly, this self assessment would be considered as a different genre as well.
